Using essential oils as a natural solution for your aging skin means keeping your body toxin-free while still applying an effective application for combating wrinkles.
What exactly are essential oils?
They’re natural aromatic compounds found in flowers, seeds, stems, bark, and other parts of the plants. When you pierce the peel of an orange, rub fresh rosemary leaves together in your hands, or inhale the aroma of a rose you are experiencing essential oils! Essential oils have been used for a variety of health and wellness applications throughout history. The Egyptians were some of the first people to use essential oils extensively for their medicinal properties, beauty treatments, food preparation and spiritual practices. Essential oils such as frankincense, sandalwood, myrrh and cinnamon were considered so valuable they were exchanged for gold along the caravan trade routes.
Modern day essential oils go beyond the perfume industry as health scientists and medical practitioners continue to research and validate the numerous health and wellness benefits of therapeutic grade essential oils.
Over the several years that I’ve been using essential oils, I've experienced how the quality of essential oils will impact their effectiveness. In order to get a therapeutic effect with your essential oil be sure you are using a therapeutic grade essential oil that is 100% pure AND potent. A high quality therapeutic grade essential oil will also come with a higher price tag as they are void of fillers, free from contaminants, harvested in the right growing conditions, and ethically sourced. It takes many pounds, sometimes even hundreds of pounds of plant material to make one 15ml bottle of therapeutic grade essential oil. Low cost oils are often diluted with fillers, synthetically created or support poverty during sourcing. The below checklist will help you identify if you have a high quality therapeutic grade essential oil:
I have experienced many brands of essential oils over the last decade but the brand I prefer is doTERRA. I‘ve been using doTERRA exclusively since 2011 because they meet all of the previously stated criteria for a high quality therapeutic grade essential oil and have an incredible loyalty rewards program that allows me to get up to 55% off retail prices. This helps make my essential oil habit very affordable.
And when it came to my skin care, I made some of my own blends to proactively prevent my skin from aging. I first experienced how incredibly effective doTERRA’s line of products were when I applied my anti-stretch mark recipe during my pregnancy with my daughter, which you can read about here.
Nowadays, I no longer put together my own blends since doTERRA came out with their anti-aging collection. I’ve been applying this for 4 years now and as a busy mom running my own business, this self care routine makes me feel like I’m giving myself my own spa treatment at home. And the aromas and moisturizing cream are ridiculously luxurious!
I go into a lot more detail about the kit below, but if you want to just buy it directly, you can do so HERE.
Here are some before & after results doTERRA achieved in 6 weeks without any digital retouching. I found that when I applied this to my skin, my results resembled more like the second before & after photos. Yours will vary depending on your skin type.
